It's raining, again.

It's raining again and I thought these pictures of roses from my garden might brighten things up.

This lovely pink rose is called Morning Jewel, it's a climbing rose and it has been producing these 'jewels' in abundance for about 25 years.

Even though it's wet and grey outside,I feel all excited today, a very dear friend of mine and her family are coming to stay for a few days. They are French, we met on holiday, years ago when our children were small and have spent so many happy times together ,holidays and visits.
We haven't seen each other for some years and my friend has been ill recently, she's getting better now and I am so thrilled that they are coming. One more day and they'll be here! I feel just like a little girl!

What beautiful roses, and in such good condition too, considering the weather, some of ours have been broken off in the wind today.
Have a wonderful time with your friends.

Hi Sharon. Thank you, the pictures were taken a few weeks ago , I just needed a bit of colour today!
I'm afraid there isn't much left flowering in my garden after the wind and rain today.

One more sleep! How wonderful to have made such longlasting friendships on holiday.

Robyn - Oh yes! I have so many lovely memories. When my son was christened,my friend (her name is Fanny) was to be Godmother. We had very little money and our girls, then aged 5, needed new dresses. We looked around and saw just the thing, way too expensive! So my clever friend lay sheets of newspaper on the sitting room floor and drew the pattern shapes from memory. We made them up and our little girls looked so pretty in their matching 'designer' dresses.
The Christening party was a feast, we made everything ourselves including a special French gateaux for the Christening cake!
Nick, of course behaved very well (not really!).Happy days.
